Submitting sitemap to Google Webmaster Tools

Submit a sitemap to Google to index the pages of your blog properly.Although the site get index without submission but some pages may not be indexed properly thus submitting sitemap is useful.The site gets index faster and properly by submitting Sitemap.Being essential every Webmaster and Blogger's has to submit sitemap.As in Google we Submit sitemap through Google Webmaster Tools.It is heart of Google Search.To submit a sitemap kindly read below.

What is Sitemap?

Sitemap is a File that list the URL along with their information of each page like when the page was Updated,Relation of the sites etc.It is Usually in XML.Sitemaps Are Used by crawlers

Importance of sitemap

• It helps inform about site to search engines like Google,Bing,Yahoo
• It Tells about the page.If it is not summited your pages may not be discovered by search engines
• It helps to tell the Updates about your Site

Summiting a Sitemaps

Submission of sitemap is Easy.Just you need your feed URL and summit it to Webmaster’s Tools.However follow the below steps for submission of Proper Sitemaps.

At Blogger

In Blogger  sitemaps are automatically created which is called Post Feed

1. Go to Google Webmasters Tools homepage.Sign in at there if you do not have Email create one.It is important because it is used in future too.
2. Click  your Blog or Web page.If you don’t have add your blog.
3. You will be transferred to Dashboard.Expand the Site Configuration
4. Click on Sitemap Link.
5. Now click on Add/Test sitemap.
6. Enter this in the the box.

   atom.xml?redirect=false&max-results=500 

7. If you have more than 500 post again click on  add/Submit sitemap

   atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=501&max-results=500

8. If you have more than 1000 again enter this by clicking Add/Test site map.

   atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1001&max-results=500

9. If you got more than 1500  then add more sitemap as we do above.
10. At adding each feed  click on submit Sitemap.
    
11. You should see the below list after submitting sitemap.
12. Finally your sitemap will be submitted.

At WordPress

• Download a Google XML sitemap plugin from here.
• Follow the installation process given here.
• After making sitemap submit similar to Blogger.
